Color and Symmetry: Nan Engen

Nan Engen
Having a great love and respect for nature, I use it frequently as a subject - often painting whimsical pictures of animals. I also create abstract paintings using a combination of bright colors and symmetry to produce visual impact.
Creating art, while always a strong interest, didn't become a large part of my life until I retired from the "gainfully employed" and started to exploring the options for all the free time that was now available to me.
There are so many creative outlets to express your idea - some of mine are needlework, embroidery, pressed flowers, humorous poetry, and art. As a child, I grew up in the country with a great love and respect for nature - it is frequently the subject of my digital art. I also like to create whimsical art, hopefully, to make people smile! Basically, my work falls into two categories: Nature, and Abstracts for which I use a lot of color and symmetry. See Nan's work in her online portfolio.
