"Rose Garden" is 24x24 acrylic on canvas and gallery style - again it is impressionist abstract type work but with florals, and using a palette knife to make the roses and stems, they almost look 3D on the canvas - the colours are so vibrant and it reminds me of my garden - I really loved making that one
"I See Birds" is an abstract impressionist piece with faint "imaginary" birds in a blossoming tree full of colours - painted from my imagination but lovely world the way I see things - acrylic on 14x18 regular canvas and painted over the sides of the canvas - I have been experimenting and trying new techniques so this was fun

I have been artistic all of my life and remember art classes as a little girl and of course, high school art was one of my favourite classes = fascinating stuff and a pleasure to do the homework
) I was lucky enough to study through some night courses at NSCAD (Nova Scotia College of Art & Design) when I lived in the Maritimes and had a wonderful instructor who encouraged us to paint what we saw and felt - not what others expected of us... I have never forgotten him and when he died I bought a couple of his paintings paying monthly for a year as I was a young person with limited budget and new baby on the way - raising the kids, we always had arts and crafts projects going every single day at our house and I enjoyed quilting, cross stitch, painting, knitting and creating but had to gradually leave my oils aside as the turpentine and oils were just not safe around kids and dogs and cats. The kids are grown now and gone and I can pursue my art again with palettes of acrylics or oils and have my own studio set up now. Be sure to visit Claire's online gallery.| 80 |
