George Steele and James Head
Art pieces envisioned, designed and handcrafted by the artists in copper.
Each piece is a unique vision inspired by elements in nature and expressed in the fire metal...

We paint on the copper with different types of gas and heat settings with torches. This is what gives up the brilliant hues of reds purple and oranges. Also, the markings and patterns the torch puts on the copper leave it looking as if it is still molten. The aged copper patina is applied through a process that does in hours what mother nature takes years to produce. Each and every piece of copper is hand cut. This is how we maintain the crisp edges on the pieces. Each piece is assembled by hand from start to finish by us also. Hence they are our visions. We also incorporate natural elements such as woods, cactus and textiles into our designs. We use looms to hand weave textiles then embellish them with copper.
George Steele and James Head both live on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Both are artists committed to the recovery and growth of the area from Hurricane Katrina. George is an Executive Chef and formerly owned Copper Cave Creations in Phoenix, AZ. James is an Investment Banker with a major national bank. Art is their passion. Jim has collected Precolumbian ceraqmics and textiles for over 25 years and has an extensive collection. He also has a display on loan to the New Orleans Museum of Art of his Precolumbian pottery.
