"The fictitious gallery" was drawn with fine-liner pen on cartridge paper, scanned and then coloured in photoshop elements using a graphics tablet.
"Storm Dreams" was drawn entirely with a graphics tablet in Expression design and then transferred to elements for colouring, again with the tablet.
Grant Wilson
I have been interested in Art for as long as I can remember, and have been drawing since I could hold a pencil, yet it is only since 1996 that I made a conscious decision to follow my creative instincts into a career in Art. I am therefore largely self taught, although the courses I have undertaken have considerably refined my skills and presented me with a wider concept of what Art "is about." My work has evolved from the rudimentary skills I possessed a decade ago to a more accomplished whole consisting of Traditional and modern Digital techniques. For inspiration I draw on my interest in Abstract artists like Kandinsky, and at the other end of the spectrum, comic book greats such as Brian Bolland and Mike McMahon. My work is varied in approach and style, my natural tendency to create "graphic style" images enhanced by my interest in combining Computer techniques with hand drawn elements. I have also recently studied Animation, which requires skill in the traditional areas of drawing to accomplish well, and have had work in Stop-Motion and Abstract "2-d" areas screened at the Edinburgh Filmhouse and Leith Short Film Festival. See more of Grant's work at his online gallery.
