Joshua Lance
Josh is a dedicated, “paint on my clothes” painter for the past 20 years and counting. Born in Long Island, NY and raised in Arizona, Connecticut and New Jersey, Josh explored the boundaries between the natural world and the sub-conscious world from an early age. He went on to receive art and graphic design degrees to fulfill his passion in art and design. After years of “real jobs” and the recent economic status of our world, Josh reached a crossroads in his career and decided to pursue his first passion; painting.
His favorite style of art is impressionistic plein-air and alla prima (direct from life), using expressive strokes and limited color palettes to create unique works on boards and canvas. Inspired by life’s simple pleasures, this enthusiastic artist naturally enjoys implementing a whimsical, quirky element in his art that complements his own personality.
“Humor, support and perseverance gets through the hard times, thank goodness I’m still painting!” Through many years of artistic committment, his ability to interpret the moment has led Josh on a creative path that explored the essence of life through his art.
Since 1991, Josh’s commitment to artistic expression has led to over 30 solo and group exhibitions in New York City area, Colorado, Arizona and New Mexico. In 2006, Josh relocated to Santa Fe, New Mexico which had an immediate profound effect on his colorful life and art. “My eyes and palette opened a bit wider, like a vista” In addition, murals and portraits were also added to his landscape palette. Josh is a member of the Santa Fe Artist Market at the Railyard by the farmers market. Josh continues creating his unique style to the world while learning and growing in his quest of perfecting his craft.
