Surviving the Storm: Elaine Hodges

This home is located in the Old Arabi Historic District just outside of New Orleans. It's been through Hurricane Katrina and has surely seen grander days, but is definitely a survivor. Painted in acrylic on Arches watercolor paper

The bright eyed tabby cat is one of four cats that have adopted us. This painting is done in acrylic on Arches watercolor paper.

I am a self-taught artist, and love painting and creating just about anything. Most of my subjects are from everyday life, and living near New Orleans, I enjoy the depicting the flavor and culture of the area. I have sold my items in gift shops and art and craft stores over the years, and also online, including my website, http://www.creativemoods.com. I have also enjoyed designing patterns for magazines. I have finally gotten back to painting, having to start from scratch since Hurricane Katrina devastated our home town in St.Bernard Parish. It feels good to be creating again.
